Super Scientific Seven Selebration

What do you get when you have tons of DRY ICE....

...fourteen 6 & 7 year old boys,

and A REALLY COOL SCIENTIST?

You get a birthday party that all the guests say, "I want a Science Party too!"

Dayton is really into science, more specifically inventing things and knowing how things work. So in planning for his party, being a teacher, I suggested a science party. I really intended on hiring someone to come do the party for me. A friend of ours works at Lawrence Livermore Lab and decided that he and his wife could do it for us. Un-be-lievable!

My sister who has a friend that makes cakes. I told her to use her imagination and this is what she came up with! Now can you imagine all the boys eyes when they looked at this cake? And it was really good too!Check her out.
Let the science begin!

They demonstrated some cool chemical reactions and explained why it happens.

Then we moved to bathroom and lit some "volatile solution" on fire. Always a crowd pleaser!
This is called "elephant toothpaste" and requires chemicals that we cannot go out a buy...ooooh, coooool!
This is the cornstarch/water or "quick sand" mixture that looks like a liquid but feels like a solid. He is domonstrating how to run on it.
This in Mentos/Diet Coke rocket. Lots of oooohs and aaaaahs!

This is D doing the "happy dance" after opening his presents.

"Thaaaaank Yoooooou EVERYBODY!"
How do you thank someone when words and all the money just doesn't express your gratitude?
This is how it all ended... E, D and Dad having a "quick sand" war...
...and the birthday boy soaking his feet in pajamas that are 4 sizes too small.

Happy Birthday Dayton!

thanks for letting us do the science stuff. anson really liked doing it and to have a chance play with science in a way he doesn't get to very often.

Hi Jen - Thanks for taking time to visit and comment on my blog. I think this birthday party idea is the best ever for little boys. I love it, and I know they did too. I don't know if I've ever seen 6 & 7 year old boys sitting still at a party - that's impressive in itself!

I love the little halloween table in your entry way. I'm going to have to get some of those cute apothecary jars and fill them with cute candies around the year for my kitchen and soaps/bath salts/sea sponges in my bathroom.

If I gain weight, I'll just blame it on your "sweet" idea.

Thanks again for stopping by.

Fondly,
Allyson
